This geopolitical research examines the international and strategic dimensions of the Russian military intervention in Syria under American hegemony from 2024 to 2026. The core research problem revolves around how Russian influence and the future of its military bases were impacted following the historic milestone of Bashar al-Assad's regime collapse in December 2024. It further investigates how the United States exploited this geopolitical vacuum to cement its regional hegemony and manage the transitional phase under President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The study adopts a case-study approach and systemic analysis to deconstruct the prevailing military balances. The research concludes that Russia's preoccupation with the war in Ukraine directly compromised its ability to sustain the regime. Consequently, by August 2026, Syria successfully negotiated a landmark agreement stripping Tartus and Hmeimim of their sovereign military base status and reconfiguring them into joint training facilities under absolute Syrian civil administration .
