تتناول هذه الدراسة موضوع تأثير الانقلابات العسكرية على المسار الديمقراطي في القارة الإفريقية بعد عام 2020، في ظل تصاعد موجة الانقلابات العسكرية في عدد من دول غرب إفريقيا والساحل الإفريقي، مثل مالي وبوركينا فاسو والنيجر والغابون، وما رافق ذلك من تراجع في مؤشرات التحول الديمقراطي والاستقرار السياسي. وتهدف الدراسة إلى تحليل الأسباب السياسية والاقتصادية والأمنية التي أسهمت في عودة الانقلابات العسكرية، وبيان انعكاساتها على المؤسسات الديمقراطية والحريات العامة والاستقرار الاقتصادي والأمني في القارة الإفريقية. اعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، إلى جانب منهج دراسة الحالة، من خلال تحليل نماذج من الانقلابات العسكرية التي شهدتها بعض الدول الإفريقية بعد عام 2020. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى أن ضعف المؤسسات السياسية، وانتشار الفساد، وتفاقم الأزمات الاقتصادية، وتصاعد التهديدات الأمنية والجماعات المسلحة، تمثل من أبرز العوامل التي أسهمت في تزايد التدخل العسكري في الحكم. كما ظهر أن الانقلابات العسكرية أدت إلى تعطيل الدساتير والمؤسسات المنتخبة، وتراجع الحريات العامة وحقوق الإنسان، فضلًا عن تعميق الأزمات الاقتصادية والأمنية وتراجع الثقة الشعبية بالأنظمة الديمقراطية. وتبين أن استمرار الانقلابات العسكرية يشكل تهديدًا مباشرًا لمستقبل الديمقراطية والاستقرار السياسي في إفريقيا. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن الحد من ظاهرة الانقلابات العسكرية يتطلب تعزيز المؤسسات الدستورية، وترسيخ مبدأ التداول السلمي للسلطة، وإصلاح المؤسسة العسكرية، ودعم المجتمع المدني والإعلام، فضلًا عن تفعيل دور الاتحاد الإفريقي والمنظمات الدولية في حماية النظام الديمقراطي ودعم الاستقرار السياسي والتنمية في القارة الإفريقية.
