Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of political parties in shaping voter behavior in Wasit Governorate, within a context shaped by overlapping social, economic, and political factors. It is based on the premise that party influence is not limited to political programs or electoral discourse, but also includes public trust, tribal affiliations, economic conditions, and levels of political awareness.

The findings reveal that a significant portion of voters make their choices based on personal and social considerations rather than party platforms or competencies. This highlights the limited impact of party efforts in guiding electoral decisions. Furthermore, a noticeable gap exists between voters and political parties, driven by weak communication, lack of persuasive messaging, and insufficient understanding of local community needs.

The study recommends reevaluating the interaction mechanisms between parties and voters, strengthening political education initiatives, and promoting conscious participation to build an electorate capable of independent and informed decision-making.
