Abstract

This research aims to present a legal study on the issue of physical assaults against police officers, as one of the important topics in ensuring that security personnel are able to perform their duties within a legal framework that guarantees their physical safety while carrying out such tasks. The significance of this study stems from the increasing security challenges and the growing risks faced by members of the security forces, which necessitates examining the adequacy of legal provisions in protecting this category. The study addresses the various forms of physical assaults to which police officers are exposed and clarifies the scope of criminalization and the prescribed penalties. It concludes that, despite its importance, the criminal protection afforded to members of the Internal Security Forces still suffers from several legislative shortcomings, which negatively affect efforts to reduce assaults directed against them. Accordingly, the study presents a set of recommendations aimed at contributing to the development and enhancement of the legal framework governing criminal protection
