Abstract

Abstract:

The researcher examining the drift in Syrian-Lebanese relations after the collapse of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad's regime, the researcher suggests that this is a crucial turning point which altered the regional power balance. The change thus contributed to removal of the classic Syrian tutelage and indirect control over Lebanon in several fields. Loss of former Syrian regime had a profound impact on regional influence networks. Lebanon has constituted one of the principal extensions for the network over last two decades. Consequently, profound and successive changes occurred in the heart of politic land of each country. Both Damascus and Beirut have endeavored to make the most of this regional setting when establishing a new political configuration that meets current regionally focused guidelines. However, the durability of this nascent reality depends on both parties which are trying hard by every means to fill in their own exclusive version of what regional order should look like in this time period of change to work out just and cooperative cooperation patterns within a changing regional order.
