Abstract

The article focuses on the idea of governing cultural diversity by reformulating the concept of diversity, cultural recognition, social justice, and political representation among groups as fundamental pillars in managing cultural diversity in contemporary Western societies in a way that preserves their identity and independent existence, which is threatened by the danger of integration, migration, and assimilation with the majority culture. Hence, the research starts from questions such as: How can multicultural societies maintain social cohesion and achieve social justice? How can cultural and demographic diversity be managed in the presence of political disagreements about cultural diversity? And how has the rise in levels of international migration affected the demographic and cultural dynamics in multi-ethnic societies? The researchers provided answers to these questions, distributed across eight axes. The first axis addressed the pluralistic perspective, the second axis addressed current discussions on diversity governance, the third axis included discursive, normative, and methodological integration, the fourth axis included moving away from the debate between multiculturalism and cultural interactionism, the fifth axis included the distinctions and integrations between multiculturalism and cultural interactionism, the sixth axis included deepening the link between multiculturalism and cultural interactionism, the seventh axis included rethinking the spatial relationship and the four normative values, and the eighth axis included reformulating the relationship between multiculturalism and cultural effectiveness.
