يتناول هذا البحث تحليلًا شاملًا لأحكام القانون الدولي الإنساني مع التركيز على حماية الفئات الضعيفة في النزاعات المسلحة، وعلى رأسها المسنون، الأطفال، النساء، و الأسرى. يبدأ البحث بتوضيح المفهوم العام للقانون الدولي الإنساني وأهدافه في حماية الأفراد الذين لا يشاركون في العمليات العدائية، ويشمل ذلك المدنيين والأشخاص المحميين بموجب الاتفاقيات الدولية. سلط البحث الضوء على الحماية الخاصة التي توفرها اتفاقيات جنيف لعام 1949 والبرتوكلات الإضافية التي تسعى لضمان حقوق الفئات الضعيفة في زمن الحرب، مع استعراض المواد القانونية التي تؤكد حقوق الأسرى، المسنين، النساء و الأطفال أثناء النزاع المسلح. كما ركز البحث على دور المنظمات الإنسانية، ولاسيما اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، ودورها في توفير الحماية والمساعدة للمتضررين من جراء النزاعات المسلحة، عبر تنفيذ قواعد القانون الدولي الإنساني والمساهمة الفعالة في تطويرها لتلبية احتياجات الحماية الإنسانية. استعرض البحث مفهوم الحماية الدولية والية تفعيلها وتطبيقها على ارض الواقع ، مع الإشارة إلى التحديات المتعلقة بتطبيق هذه القواعد بفعالية في مناطق النزاع المسلحة. ومن ثم توضيح العلاقة بين الحماية القانونية والواقع العملي، وكيف أن بعض الحقوق لا تُنفذ كما ينبغي، مما يؤدي إلى استمرار انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان.
